Less can be Powerful..

Less can be more powerful. Yes, you heard it right, Less is more powerful.
Whatever we eat, whichever electronic device we use, whichever motor vehicle we use, whatever we wear, whatever technology we use, wherever place we live in etc, each of this item has a cost associated with it. One kind of cost is monetary, which we are already paying. There is one more important cost associated with all these items. These all come at the cost of our own vital environment. Every service that we use, every product that we use, in fact almost every thing that we enjoy comes at the cost environment.
Every one of us must have heard about biological cycles in primary schools.  Basically, everything in universe is balanced based on the give and take formula. If the balance between give and take is disturbed, equilibrium is lost and then catastrophes sets in.  Lately, we have seen many examples of catastrophes in Asia, USA etc.
Alright, so far so good. Now what we can do?. What can I do in the world of almost 7 billion people? This is the only one question that always hold us back. Lets try to start as an individual from our own home.  Soon world will follow. Lets control our food cravings and eat what we need in right quantities. This would help us in saving food. Lets start using electricity judiciously e.g. start using sunlight whenever possible. Avoiding wastage of power can help us in saving our fossils stock  as well, so that is an indirect advantage. Lets buy clothes that we really need and just don’t buy for decorating wardrobes or for showing to our neighbors, friends and relatives. Lets walk when ever possible. Lets use electronic devices, motor vehicles etc to their fullest potential and don’t keep buying them in chasing the trend. Because trend will keep changing. Lets try to invest in cleaner technologies like LED’s. All these small steps from each individual can collectively make huge impact on our consumption trends or consumer demands. This will eventually help in controlling industrial output and hence help in lowering the pressure of natural resources. This would be a win-win situation. This is the power of less. Power to live a healthy meaningful life. Power to sustain.

Diminishing line between Politics, Media and Business

There is so much negativity in the air. Thanks to the “Hatred” contents going viral on all almost means of media today. I  mean newspapers, television, social media, social networking etc.
They say “Seeing is Believing”, so we create our mindset or any opinion based on what we see. Human beings, being physiologically vulnerable to negativity, get easily distracted and flown away with “Hatred” content. Unfortunately, this has become USP for media. So, “Hatred” has become host selling Business Model for media today.
“Hatred” can take many  forms. It can be for a person. It can be for a section of society. It can be for a community. It can be for a religion. We are seeing all of these forms almost on daily basis.  All of the times, “Hatred” content have vested interest originating from Politics. India being diversified country, surviving scars of partition can be easily derailed if we try to exploit sensitivity of people. Huh!! another hot cake to cash in !!!.
This is 21st century. We are getting educated, We are connected via internet. We have world of information in our pocket. Lets use it for better. We need to develop sense of discretion. We need to close flood gates and should only receive what we want. Media can also act responsibly and  try not to dramatize and exaggerate things. There are lot of good things happening in the world. Its just that we need receive those with open arms. World is not going to end so soon !!!!!!!

Virtual World

We are connected.
With the advent of social media, we are now more and more  connected. Connected socially, professionally and almost in all respects. From the beginning to the end of the day, we are connected. Some times we are connected during midnight nature’s call as well. WiFi at home, 4 G  outside home, world is in our pocket every moment. Whose Birthday? What he is doing? What she is doing? Am I looking ugly? Is he putting on weight? blah blah blah. Thanks to thousand’s of updates that we get everyday.  Our all senses are at work round the clock without fail.
Unfortunately, with such a boom in connectivity, void and vacuum is also growing. I was reading an article lately, in that article it was mentioned that a teen age girl used to get anxiety if she doesn’t check her mobile every 10 minutes.  That is a void. Couple of weeks back, I saw a happy family sitting in a restaurant. They ordered food and within 2-3 minutes every one in the family was busy again with their smart devices. This is a vacuum. Everyone is so happy in display pics, but unfortunately we never know, how some one really is in the real world because data has the biggest share in our smart devices monthly bills. Some how, we are becoming slaves of these smart devices. More of a kind of a robot, being remotely run by smart devices. Some one rightly said ,Devices are getting smart and people are getting dumb. There is nothing wrong in this trend. But we need to keep this trend in check to use it fullest for our best and not become a victim of it. Rest we all know….
